Although this wonderful historic property is 40 mins from Positano, it was well worth the trip when I met the owner many years ago to visit not only the Grotta property but also the ancient Abbey nestled below. I had been driving by this wonderful property for years going to and fro Salerno, the administrative centre of the coast and had always wondered what treasure it held. What a surprise when I met the owner who walked me through this enchanting villa. He then drove me a few metres down the road to show me "the big house" he was reconstructing......and what a wonderful project it was with his architectural background he showed  me  Villa Acqua Azzurra ( below)! another breathtaking sight!

Description:
This delightful antique property is wedged into a beautiful natural grotto which acts as a shelter to all extreme weather conditions; cool in summer and protected in winter. The villa is surrounded by brilliant bougainvillea and rich geraniums in ancient clay pots decorate the terrace. Nestled below the villa is one of the Amalfi Coasts ultimate treasures – a breathtaking   Benedictine abbey and its walls decorated with 1000 year old frescos, a sight to be believed!

The property consists of three areas connected by a 200 square meters terrace. The main building has three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin) and two bathrooms with a spacious sitting room and cozy fireplace. The annex area is accessed through the back terrace and has two beds and a bathroom. La Grotta Bianca enjoys  two beautiful terraces, one facing the Mediterranean for evening cocktails and  the other is nestled into the back of the house  under the fresh cool grotto and perfect for a warm summer’s day lunch.

The decor is an elegant mix of local antiques and colorful ethnic pieces. This enchanting property boasts one of the most expansive views of the Amalfi Coast and will coax you even during the milder winter months
La Grotta Bianca is situated 4 km from Cetara, a quaint  fishing village which possesses some of the area’s best restaurants and 4 kms from  Maiori to other side with its charming  seaside promenade on the  main beach which is scattered with restaurants and bars.

Rental Conditions:  
This property is rented from Saturday to Saturday with a minimum of one week during the High Season (June – Sept), other periods are negotiable for shorter rental periods.
The property is cleaned 3 times a week for 2 hours at a time with one linen change during the week. Extra cleaning service is available at an added cost. A cook is also available at an extra free.

Access:
Car rental is highly recommended.
20 minutes from Amalfi, 25 minutes from Ravello, 40 minutes from Positano, 50 minutes from Pompei.

Tariff  & Seasons:
High Season:  July/August – 2800 € @ week
Mid Season:  May/June/Sep/Xmas/New Year – 2300 € @ week
Low Season:  other months.1980€ @ week
