A historical hillside monastery from the 1700's and built as a Episcopal residence can only enhance the beauty and magic of Positano. Recently purchased by a local and good friend, this villa has been beautifully restored into what it is today - a magnificent villa of transquility but with all the features for fun! - most of all it's industrially equipped kitchen. My favourite time to visit this villa is in the off season when all the visitors have gone  and Giaccomo the owner  and friends gather to enjoy long festive meals in the heated kitchen or swim in it's delicious warm indoor pool after a leisurely massage. Closer to the sky than to the sea, this is truly is heaven on earth!

Description:
In the 1700’s the magical and very wealthy town of Positano was decorated with beautifully constructed Baroque villas having gained it’s independence from the Kingdom of Napes. It was famous for its sturdy sea vessels that sailed to the Middle East and Cyprus with precious woods, spices and silks. The town’s  villas were decorated by the most expert craftsmen of the time using  the finest  imported and local materials  which is evident within the grounds   Palazzo Mezzanotte with its magnificent lacquered doors, richly painted ceilings and stucco decorations resembling fine lace work.  But by 1860 when the Two Sicily’s were united and the famous Steam Ships were invented, the town of Positano grew rapidly poor. There was mass emigration to America and many parts of the village were left abandoned and desolate. Positano became known as the Dead City. However the Palazzo Mezzanotte (also known as Santa Croce) remained occupied and cared for all through the 20th century. In the 1920’s Edward Ghillausen , famous artist and representative of the Bauhaus took the Palazzo as his residence where he remained till his death in  2000 at almost 100 years of age. He filled the Villa with art and love and became one of the town’s most treasured residences.

  • Domestic staff include 2 professional cleaners and cooks and one person who manages gardening, maintenance, house shopping and reception chores.
  • Breakfast is prepared with freshly squeezed juice from our own lemon and orange trees, homemade marmalade and home  baked pastries
  • Undergarment   laundry service included, cloths laundry extra cost.
  • The villa is fully equipped with ADSL and WIFI for computer hook up.
  • TV plasma (4 in total) with satellite link up.
  • Indoor and outdoor music is filtered throughout  all rooms  with an assortment of classic, Neapolitan or modern  music with the possibility of having your own music(CD)
  • A wooden oven can be lit at any time to savour the wonderful classic Neapolitan pizza.
  • Good quality wine tasting glasses are also supplied.
  • 1000 kHz of electricity per week is included in the villa rent. Additional usage will be charged at 0,22 euro per kHz. ( max excess could be 400€ @ week with all features running day and night)

There will be no refund if a booking is cancelled at any time.

Tarriffs & Season:
High Season: June, July, August & September, Xmas: Arrivals & Departures Saturday Only
Mid Season: May, October - arrival & departure any day of the week.
Low Season: all remaining months – arrival & departure any day of the week

High Season 16800€ @ week (including welcome dinner and welcome on board to San Salvatore, the Palazzo’s boat)
Mid Season:  1800€ @ day or 11550€ @ week.
Low Season:  1800€ @ day or 11550 @ week.

Security Deposit:
There is a security deposit of € 10.000 for phone & damages to be paid via credit card with your final villa payment. On your departure this will be reimbursed minus any expenses incurred.  On arrival there will be a € 2.000 advance payment in cash for food /beverage shopping. On departure this will be reimbursed minus any expenses incurred.
